Item #2: Super Mario RPG (SNES)

Today's item is a Super Mario RPG game cartridge for Super Nintendo. This is a game that was released in 1996 right at the tail-end of the SNES era to critical acclaim. This is as you can guess, an RPG which was an unlikely collaboration between Nintendo and Square. Unfortunately, due to the fact that it was out right at the end of the Super Nintendo's life, its sales weren't amazing making it one of the rarer titles on the system.

Many consider this game to be one of the best SNES games ever released. It is also considered the spiritual predecessor to the Paper Mario series and Mario & Luigi series. Because of its rarity, a copy of Super Mario RPG isn't cheap. You can typically snag the cartridge on ebay for around 30 bucks. If you want it in its box, expect to pay closer to 60 or 70. I unfortunately only own the cartridge but was lucky enough to find mine at the Salvation Army for 2 dollars. Its one of the best deals in my collection!
